Rhythm Society Upcoming Public Events


• June 15, 2017 : Music on the Plaza, Grosse Pointe
Bring a chair, a blanket and a friend to listen to some swinging sounds. Concert starts at 7:00 PM but arrive early to get a good spot.

• June 17, 2017 : Motor Muster at Greenfield Village
Watch a narrated vintage car show then dance or just listen to war-time period swing with RSO. Real cars - a real band! We perform from 7 to 9 PM. The Satin Dolls, an Andrews Sisters-like group, join in on the fun with RSO.

• June 21, 2017 : Nardin Park Church, Farmington
Sit, relax and let RSO entertain you indoors with a concert of entertaining, authentic big band swing from the era. One hour concert starts at 8:00 PM.

• July 7, 2017 : Howell Courthouse
The Livingston Arts Council presents an evening of big band swing, from the WWII era, at the courthouse in Howell. Band plays from 7 to 9 PM. Bring a blanket and chairs. Free.

• July 27, 2017 : Concert at Boulin Park, Troy
The Troy Summer Concert Series is back! Boulan Park on Crooks Road between Big Beaver and Wattles Roads will be the backdrop for some fabulous music on select Thursdays this summer. Come out and hear RSO in concert! The performance is from 6:30 to 8:30.

• August 3, 2017 : Pigeon (Tip of The Thumb)
Bring a chair, a blanket and a friend to listen to some swinging sounds in the tip of Michigan's Thumb region at the Pigeon Band Shell (amphitheater). Concert starts at 7:00 PM!

• August 17, 2017 : Concert/Dance in Bay City
BaySail will be hosting its annual fundraising event called BaySail Summer Breeze. The evening promises to be memorable as guests dine and dance dockside to the big band sounds of RSO at the Wenonah Park Friendship Shell. VIP admission includes a dinner. General admission is free and includes a swing dance lesson at 6:30 put on by the Bay City Ballroom club. VIP tickets: (989) 895-5193 or email Scott Ellis at scotte@baysailbaycity.org. BaySail is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that owns and operates the tall ship Appledore IV that has called the Great Lakes Bay Region home for the last 16 years.


• January 27, 2018 : Dinner-Dance in Livonia
Detroit Burns Club annual dinner-dance to honor the poetry of Robert Burns. Joining in the fun this year is the St. Andrews Society of Detroit. This event is open to the public - be a Scot for a day! This event also features a live pipe band and dancers. At Burton Manor in Livonia.

• March 24, 2018 : Big 3 XXXIX, Masonic Temple, Detroit
The largest swing dance around! Located at Masonic Temple in the beautiful, expansive Crystal Ballroom. Dance lesson at 7:00 then RSO plays 8:00-Midnight
